Cape Universal Oy
The store renovation was desired to create a strong sense of community and a welcoming meeting place for skaters at all levels to meet, learn, share and connect.
The skate community was involved in planning and implementing the space design, ensuring the shop remained credible while providing an international-level store experience.
The presentation of the store lives and changes according to the seasons. Birch plywood was chosen as the surface material because its use has a long history in constructing skate ramps.
Plywood is flexible and it is possible to repair when dents occur over time. Birch patinas beautifully over time and serve as a good platform for changing displays.
